As an example, England gives scores between 0 and 54 for each hip, which makes it very difficult to compare with countries there are members of the FCI. Dog with less than 6 points at each hip are mostly classified as U.A. in Sweden.

What have we missing now ? much... We most not forget all this things, don´t bee a fanatic.

Shall we lost the type and the size of the rase ?
Must we xray all joint/links on animals ? what will the "nature" have done ?
Or live a long and good life with HIP, can show you good exempel, saints on 9 - 11 years and more.
Properly we give HD the first place here, because xray is an order before breeding.

A few words about raising dogs and breeding.

Some people can only see the problems of AD/HD, like there are no other problems.
It is like a pretty face for people to see.
I cannot see that AD/HD is a big problem with the St. Bernard; we should rather look at the problems that can’t be seen on an x-ray picture.

Speculation of breeding.

Who is competent to decide, what are others to breed ?
No one knows better than the breeder himself about his dogs.
It can be said with few words… “If you’re not the right person, you won’t get the right dogs”.
if we should have had an advice.
We all saw what (N)dog magasin wrote last year about many pure breaded dogs, which have had breeding advice and attach importance to AD/HD.

About Epilepsy:

We got epilepsy, a disease that has a higher degree of danger, than many even think about.
It can lay latent for years, in generation-to-generation, then one day the gene can break out if it meets someone with the same gene.
I would like to know why the disease does not break out on everybody, and if we could take gene-samples.
One thing is for sure, when it breaks out the gene is in both parents or more in further back in the family.
For some years I have gathered information on stocks on St. Bernard, were the epilepsy have been, and it always comes back to the same 4-5 dogs. There`s a straight line down to today.
There is properly more dogs than I know about that has had it.
What is dangerous, is that the lines lays in many of the St. Bernard’s to day and no one is been taken out of breeding. I have started on my own genealogical table/pedigree. Here we speak about dogs in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, Belgium, England, Iceland and United States of America.

I have had this problem in two of mine litters, where 60-80% had to be putdown. A sad story when you see you’re dog laying there in pain from night to morning with a fit every other hour, and no medicine can help, only the dead. It can break out from the age from zero to five or more. Seeming perfectly healthy and kind dogs, to the day it happens. I have tried to warn others breeders about this problem. However, they have been full of “deafness”.
Maybe they know that if they stop it, it will not be many left for breeding.
All off my dogs is out of breeding now; everything was good for 15 year or so. I should probably have known better when I started, but no one ever spoke about it back then.
Everyone said of course a case like this can happen. It can, but there is no coincidence when it happens to so many, not just with my dog but out with many other of the breeders.
People also think that medicine can fix it, but in 95% of the cases, it cant.
So do not come and tell me that AD/HD is a big problem like this. That can “kill” a person that loves her dogs. Therefore, if I can’t breed free form epilepsy, I’m not going to breed anymore.
